Terms of Service

Last updated: March 22, 2026

These terms govern your use of TabBrain, a Chrome extension and related cloud services ("the Service"). By installing or using TabBrain, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, uninstall the extension and stop using the Service.

1. What TabBrain Does

TabBrain tracks your browsing activity in Chrome to build a searchable memory of your tabs and sessions. It can automatically close stale tabs, generate AI summaries of your visits, and sync data across devices when you sign in. The Service includes the Chrome extension, the cloud backend, and any associated APIs or integrations.

2. Your Account

TabBrain works without an account. If you choose to sign in (via magic link email), you gain access to cloud sync, AI features, and MCP integration. You are responsible for maintaining access to the email address associated with your account. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

3. Your Data

You own your browsing data. TabBrain stores it locally on your device and, if you opt in to cloud sync, on our servers. We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties except as described in our Privacy Policy. We process your data through third-party services (Anthropic for AI, Cloudflare for hosting, Resend for email) solely to provide the Service.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

5. AI Features

TabBrain uses AI (currently Anthropic's Claude) to generate summaries, intent labels, and answers to natural language queries about your browsing history. AI-generated content may be inaccurate or incomplete. You should not rely on AI outputs as the sole basis for important decisions. We are not responsible for the accuracy of AI-generated content.

6. Free and Paid Tiers

TabBrain currently offers a free tier and may introduce paid plans ("Pro") in the future. We will communicate pricing and feature changes before they take effect. If a paid tier is introduced, existing free-tier features will remain available at no cost unless otherwise stated with reasonable advance notice.

7. Service Availability

We aim to keep TabBrain available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service. The cloud backend, AI features, and sync may experience downtime for maintenance, upgrades, or due to circumstances beyond our control. The extension's core local features (tab tracking, reaping, local search) work offline and are not affected by server availability.

8. Limitation of Liability

TabBrain is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of browsing history, or interruption of workflow. Our total liability for any claim related to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $50, whichever is greater.

9. Tab Closure

TabBrain's reaper feature automatically closes tabs based on your configured settings. While we design this feature to be safe (with undo support and domain allowlists), we are not responsible for any data loss resulting from tabs being closed. You are responsible for configuring the reaper's thresholds and allowlists to match your needs.

10. Intellectual Property

TabBrain's code, design, and branding are proprietary. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, revocable license to use the extension for personal or commercial purposes in accordance with these terms. This license does not grant you any rights to our source code, trademarks, or other intellectual property.

11. Termination

You may stop using TabBrain at any time by uninstalling the extension. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these terms. Upon termination, your local data remains on your device (until you clear it), and you may request deletion of your server-side data per our Privacy Policy.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms as the Service evolves. We will notify you of material changes through the extension's update notes or our website. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

13. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of California.
